Review: Die For Me By Amy Plum

Die for Me (Revenants, #1)

Die For Me (Revenants#1) By Amy Plum
Release Date: 5/10/11
Publisher: HarperTeen

Source: Netgalley (Thanks! HarperTeen & Netgalley)

Goodreads Description:

My life had always been blissfully, wonderfully normal. But it only took one moment to change everything.
Suddenly, my sister, Georgia, and I were orphans. We put our lives into storage and moved to Paris to live with my grandparents. And I knew my shattered heart, my shattered life, would never feel normal again. Then I met Vincent.
Mysterious, sexy, and unnervingly charming, Vincent Delacroix appeared out of nowhere and swept me off my feet. Just like that, I was in danger of losing my heart all over again. But I was ready to let it happen.
Of course, nothing is ever that easy. Because Vincent is no normal human. He has a terrifying destiny, one that puts his life at risk every day. He also has enemies . . . immortal, murderous enemies who are determined to destroy him and all of his kind.
While I'm fighting to piece together the remnants of my life, can I risk putting my heart—as well as my life and my family's—in jeopardy for a chance at love?

My Thoughts:

After the loss of their parents, Kate and her sister Georgia move to Paris to live with their grandparents with the hopes of starting a new life. As with reality everyone deals with death differently. Georgia threw herself into socializing and partying while Kate secluded hereself from the world until she met Vincent.

There were moments when I cried my eyes out, because of the emotional war going on within Kate and then there were times when I couldn't keep a smile off my face. The story took place in Paris and Ms. Plum did such a great job of describing the city with its breathingtaking architecture it was if I was there strolling down the streets. I loved everything about this book, and the concept of Revenants was unique and unlike anything I have read before. The relationship between Kate and Vincent was not rushed and you were able to see it bloom. The story was paced just perfect and the supporting characters each had a strong personality that you couldn't help but like.

This story wasn't about just the romance between two characters but it was also about a girl who loses both of her parents and the aftermath of what happens. You watch Kate deal with the inner turmoil that is left when you lose a loved one; she struggles to find herself and wonders how she can continue to go on and what could possibly be worth it. Then you watch  as the thin shred of hope that she has held on to comes to life and reminds you that there is hope after all and everything hasn't been lost.

On a side note, this book was really an emotional read for me since I have dealt with the lost of a parent. The words that were written on the pages could have been my own as I was reminded of a difficult time in my life.

I can't say enough about how much I really loved the story. I would give this book four stars and recommend that everyone should run out a buy a copy of it when it's released on May 10th.

Follow Friday

Every Friday Parajunkee host Follow Friday, this is your chance to meet new friends and visit old ones. :)
This is your chance to learn a little bit more about your favorite/new bloggers.

Today's question is:

Do you judge a book by it's cover?

I'm going to have to say guilty.  I know it's terrible, but if I'm wondering around a book store looking for a book to purchase with no list it's usually the cover that draws me in. Once I read the blurb that determines whether I actually buy the book or not. But, if I've heard about a certain book or have had a lot of recommendations to check a certain book out then the cover doesn't matter.

So do you judge a book by it's cover? Leave a link to your site and i'll check it out. Happy Friday! :)

Waiting on Wednesday (7)

Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that showcase upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

This week I am anxiously waiting (tapping my foot and driving everyone crazy) for the release of Rachel Vincent's new adult series. I am a huge Rachel Vincent fan and loved the Shifter series (Adult) and haven't read the Soul Screamers series yet (YA) but, just purchased the first book. Shifters was the first series that I read in the Adult Paranormal category (Shocking I know) and I fell in love with this genre.

The first book in the new series is Blood Bound, although the cover and synopsis about the books hasn't officially been released. I did find this info on the book on Ms. Vincent's website (Rachel Vincent). Ms. Vincent posted a poll asking which cover featured below did you like most, because of this I'm assuming that one of these covers will be chosen for the book. If you would like to vote head over to her site.

Blood Bound by Rachel Vincent- Release date 9/1/11.

This is not the official synopsis about the book, this was taken from her website and I'm already sold on the series :)

Olivia Warren owes her friend Anne a favor. Anne needs someone found and brought to a very quick, private justice.

The catch? Olivia must work with Cam Caballero to complete this favor. The problem? Cam is Olivia's ex--the man prophesied to either kill her or die by her hand. It's a tense reunion, at best.

As Olivia and Cam chase their target through public streets, private lives, and a dangerous criminal underworld, everything they thought they knew comes into question. In the end, they can only be sure of three things...

No one can be trusted.
Everyone's lying.
And someone's going to pay.

So what are you anxiously awaiting? Leave a link and I'll check out your WOW.
